Mandala Spa & Villas, the country's multi-awarded Destination
Spa, was recognized for the second time at the 2007 BCCI
Boracay WOW Awards as the Most Outstanding Business
Establishment Waste Management System.

The award was presented by the Boracay Chamber of Commerce
Industry (BCCI) at the Patio Pacific last Thursday, December 20, 2007 to Mandala Spa & Villas in recognition of its commitment to helping preserve the island by implementing excellent waste management.

This is the second year in a row that Mandala Spa & Villas was awarded for doing its part in protecting the natural environment of Boracay.
Organized by the BCCI and Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Linkages Phase 2 (Pearl 2), the WOW Awards recognized
the example Mandala Spa has set by incorporating conservation
methods in its daily operations. Aside from the premises being
clean and environment-friendly, trash is segregated, water is
recycled for landscaping and only biodegradable materials are
used.

The island-wide contest, now on its second year, encourages the use of centers for composting, and recycling and is geared on promoting environmentally-sound waste management.

Thirty-three Boracay resorts and business establishments participated in the program and were judged on various
criteria -- environmental education for employees; function
and aesthetics of Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs);
operation and monitoring of waste segregation; collection,
composting and recycling schemes; and creativity and
sustainability.
